I find your project really interesting. Why are there so many versions you’ve been posting on kickstarter? What does the number after the loneliest mix ⌃ mean?
- William on Kickstarter
I wanted to answer both these questions publicly since others might be asking the same things, also, I’ll add this to the FAQs post I’ve been neglecting in my saved drafts.
First, the reason for so many loneliest mix campaigns is because, a) it’s easier to keep up with the project in smaller quantities of cassettes; I re-record each tape personally and the tapes vary from 20 minutes on each side to up to 90 minutes on each side and doing more than 10 mixes at a time can get to be demanding. And b) there’s just not a ground-swell of interest in the audio project. If I’m lucky, I’ll find 4 or 5 people interested in my mailing them a mix; so it’s been a project done in baby steps since the first loneliest mix I recorded for Daniella in March.
Second, the ⌃ stands for the current total count of mixes recorded since the above-mentioned mix ⌃1 for Daniella. I wrote a post about the meaning behind the number in June, but I’m really glad William brought up this question because it’s something I need to explain for each campaign - which I will do starting tonight.
